About SMD Resistor Calculator

This calculator helps you decode Surface Mount Device (SMD) resistor markings. It supports both standard 3-digit codes and EIA-96 (3-character) marking systems commonly used on SMD resistors.

How to Use

  1. Enter the code from your SMD resistor (3 to 5 characters)
  2. Click "Calculate Resistance" to see the value
  3. Or use the preset buttons for common values

Code Types

3-Digit Code (Standard)

  • First two digits: Significant figures
  • Last digit: Multiplier (number of zeros)
  • Examples:
    • 103 = 10 × 10³ = 10kΩ
    • 472 = 47 × 10² = 4.7kΩ
    • 105 = 10 × 10⁵ = 1MΩ

EIA-96 Code

  • First two digits: Value code (01-96)
  • Letter: Multiplier (A-Z)
  • Examples:
    • 01B = 100Ω
    • 22D = 165KΩ
    • 85X = 75Ω
